I create all kinds of Reborn Dolls and have changed my name because now I now create cloth cuddle baby dolls and full vinyl Reborn Dolls.
I have been making Reborn Dolls for a number of years now and I have won several awards for my doll making.

How I got involved with making Baby Reborn Dolls
I have always had a love for dolls and babies and was amazed when I found Baby Reborn Dolls for sale in a little Boutique at Mt Tamborine. They were so lifelike and beautifully painted. I spent a very long time examining them and knew I had to find out more about these Lifelike Baby Dolls. To my surprise my dear husband went back and bought me one for my Birthday. Her name is Daisy and she is a limited edition Lee Middelton doll. This doll is very special as she started me in my quest to find out more on making vinyl baby dolls.
I enjoy making Baby Reborn Dolls – each one is unique. I am always trying new techniques and colours to make my Reborn Dolls as realistic as possible. My Reborn Baby Dolls have subtle veining and mottled skin tone with a warm blushed complexion. I have sold many of my Baby Reborn Dolls throughout Australia and Overseas Countries.

Reborn Dolls by Diana Joy Process
As a Baby Reborn Doll artist I prefer to use a manufactured vinyl kits made especially to be Reborn. There are new kits being released regularly and they are becoming more and more detailed. The sculpts are moulded so lifelike and offer me a blank canvas ready to be transformed into a sweet Lifelike Baby Reborn Doll.
My Reborning process always starts by giving the vinyl sculpt a good wash in hot soapy water to make sure the kit is nice and clean ready to start the painting process. My Baby Reborn Dolls take time to create and no detail is ever overlooked. For the first coat of paint I use a very light coat of a flesh coat and then add tiny fine veins then I add further coats of very light paint that will add extra colouring and highlighting and also coats of mottled colours. After drying and allowing the paint to cure I add blushing that will compliment the dolls complexion.
Eyebrows and eyelashes are added and hair is either painted or hand rooted with premium quality mohair. Eyes are installed and glued to the inside of the Dolls head and the inside of the head is sealed with a waterproof glue sealer.
When I am completely satisfied with the Baby Reborn Doll I put it together. This includes filling and weighting the arms and legs of the Baby Doll with glass sand and then topping with soft poly fill and then joining the parts to the body last of all I put the head on top and that’s it. Now it gets really interesting for my cute little Lifelike Baby Reborn Doll it is all ready to be dressed in new Baby clothes.
